Happy first week of Spring….I hope you’ve had a wonderfully bookish week. I have had lots of bookish fun including a trip to the shops to spend some of my birthday money. Yay!!! New books!! I’m particularly excited that I bought Evvie Drake Starts Over and can’t wait to start reading it. But first I need to finish what I am already reading:
Books read:
Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate ★★★★★ – Such a beautifully written, deeply moving and powerful piece of historical fiction. Highly recommend if you love historical fiction…. and even if you don’t.
The Family Next Door by Sally Hepworth ★★★★- A domestic drama brilliantly written from the multiple POV of Essie, Fran and Ange; three women who from the outside look like they have it all together but behind closed doors are living complicated lives. Exploring the secrets we keep and the lies we tell, love, forgiveness and family ties, this book feels just like people watching.
Currently reading:
Gravity is the Thing by Jaclyn Moriarty – I’m finding this a little hard to get into but I am assured by my bookish friends that it is totally worth it. Hopefully…fingers crossed.
It’s Not me It’s You by Mhairi McFarlane – listening to this on Audible and absolutely loving it. Mhairi and I have very similar senses of humour making her books so much fun. After finishing Don’t You Forget About Me just last week I couldn’t help but download another of her hilarious novels. A new fave author? I think YES!
