Weekly bookish wrap up: 27/10/2019

In honour of my blogiversary last week, I’ve spent more than a few hours giving the blog a little minimalist makeover…nothing too drastic…(I wish I knew how to make a nice header but I don’t think this template lets me do that)…but that has meant less reading.

This week has definitely been about quality not quantity…in that I only read 1 book…. but it was a 5 star read.

Books read:

The Dutch House by Ann Patchett ★★★★★- This was my first Ann Patchett novel but I’m definitely going to add another to my tbr…any suggestions?

I listened to this on audio every chance I got because…you know…Tom Hanks….he could narrate the phone book and I’d listen to that. But I also absolutely loved this book….I loved it so much I’m actually still coming to terms with it. So many thoughts and feelings…and questions.

Currently reading:

Ask Again, Yes by Mary Beth Keane – Another character driven novel… this one has been on my TBR for way too long.

Other bookish stuff:

The Female Persuasion by Meg Wolitzer was my first DNF for the year…not too bad considering it’s October….but I do feel a little guilty. Unfortunately I just could not get into it….no matter how hard I tried. Almost halfway through and I still had no idea of the plot…and the ‘mansplaining’ of feminism was driving me nuts….I don’t even think I’ll try again later…I think I’ll just donate it…who knows someone else might love it.

What have you been reading this week?
