Weekly bookish wrap up: 24/11/2019

Better late than never….this week has been a bit of a jumble with too many books in various stages of being read. I finished 1 book and started quite a few more.

Books read:

The Mother’s Promise by Sally Hepworth ★★★★ – A touching story of a mother’s love for her daughter and the lengths she will go to to protect her child. This book had lots of feels….made even more emotional because I have a teenage daughter around the same age as Zoe.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a compelling read with well defined characters and an interesting plot that covered a variety of issues – loneliness, fear, social anxiety, abuse, infertility, illness and death – in a sensitive way. I loved how all of the characters stories came together…even though it was obvious how they would intertwine before I was too far into the book.

This is not my first Sally Hepworth novel…and it won’t be my last. I have also read The Family Next Door and The Secrets of Midwives….both 4 star reads.

Have you read any of her novels? Any recommendations for which one I should pick up next?

Currently reading:

  • Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
  • Quiet by Susan Cain
  • The Girls by Lisa Jewell
  • Life in Flow by Kate Kendall

What are you reading this week?
