Happy Thursday bookish peeps!
Here’s a litttle tag I found on For Book’s Sake all about finished books. What we do with them, how we keep a check on them et cetera, et cetera…..
Questions:
Do you keep a list of the books you have read?
I track the books I’ve read both on Goodreads and on this nifty little spreadsheet I made myself.

If you record statistics, what statistics do you record?
Generally I record the book’s title and author; year published; how many pages, what format I read it in and what genre it belongs to; plus my rating.
Do you give star ratings for books, and if so, what do you score books out of and how do you come about this score?
My star rating goes a little something like this:
⭐ Didn’t like it…possibly unreadable…probably DNF’d it…oops!
⭐⭐ Just okay…not really my thing…pushed through because I don’t like to DNF anything.
⭐⭐⭐ Liked it…readable but not remarkable…but you might like it?
⭐⭐⭐⭐ REALLY liked it…enjoyable, entertaining and/or inspiring…grab yourself a copy!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ LOVED IT!!! Unputdownable….didn’t want it to end…please come back!
Do you review books?
Oh how I try. I have no idea how people manage to review every book they read. I can barely manage to review something once or twice a month.
I always review my NetGalley ARCs but as for anything else, my reviewing can be a bit hit and miss. I often wonder if the stress I put on myself about reviewing (or not reviewing as is usually the case) is even worth it. Do people have the time to even read reviews? Are they even interested in what I’ve got to say beyond a star rating?
Where do you put your finished books?
The whereabouts of finished books depends entirely on how much I loved them. Books that ended up 4 or 5 stars go straight to the shelf in my reading room. 3 star books sometimes go here too….or they go in ‘the basket’ – a basket in my car that is full of books that I can offer to my sisters; swap for other books at Street Libraries or donate to charity. 1 and 2 star reads go straight to the charity shop.
Do you have any other rituals for when you finish a book?
Immediately after finishing a book, according to my husband, I sigh and say “Well there you go” holding the closed book in my hands and staring off into space….EVERY SINGLE TIME I finish a book. Then I put the book on my desk so that I remember to mark it as read. I take some notes so that I’m prepared should I find the time to write a review, then I pick my next book and place my bookmark in the front cover ready to go.
