WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words. A weekly meme where all you have to do is answers the following three w’s:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
Currently reading:
Spare by Prince Harry The Duke of Sussex (Audiobook) – not sure how I feel about this one. It’s a little weird to have Prince Harry narrating his story to me through my phone or car stereo but I’m interested enough that I want to listen.
The Mis-Arrangement of Sana Saeed by Noreen Mughees (ARC) – I find myself struggling with this novel – the names and characters I find confusing, the plot too predictable with not enough to sustain my interest. Unfortunately I think I might have to resort to skimming the rest because life is too short to read books that don’t offer you something – joy, love, laughter, wonder, enlightenment…
Light is the New Black by Rebecca Campbell (Paperback) … still reading and still loving it.
Recently finished:
The Couple Upstairs by Holly Wainwright (Audiobook) ★★★ – Not as good as I Give My Marriage A Year but still a well written character driven novel. Lost me a bit at the end as the author quickly wrapped up each character’s role in a nice, neat little bow.
I’m Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy (Audiobook) ★★★★ – Completely heart-breaking. Kinda glad her mom died too.
Rent to Be by Sonia Hartl (ARC) ★★★ – Click here for my review.
The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins (Audiobook) ★★★★ – I have never read Jane Eyre so the idea that this is a modern retelling of the classic is lost on me, however, I really enjoyed this novel. None of the characters were likeable but I still found myself unable to stop listening, returning to this book at every chance to find out what might happen next. It’s been a while since I’ve read a novel this suspenseful and enjoyable despite not being able to connect to the characters. Highly recommend this one – plus it ticks of a couple of the POPSUGAR Reading Challenge prompts if you’re attempting this challenge.
What next:
The 7 Chakra Crystals: A Guide to Find Your Balance and Peace by Luca Apicella (ARC) – I’ve been wanting to learn much more about crystals and particularly about using them to balance my chakras so this ARC has come to me in perfect timing.
