Book Blogger Hop: Annotated or Untouched?

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Beginning on a Friday and ending on the following Thursday, each hop has a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The purpose of the hop is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

This week’s prompt is: Do you like to annotate your books or leave them untouched?

Until recently I felt uncomfortable about annotating books. I’d seen images of books beautifully annotated and been in awe of their whole set up – with the tabs and pretty pens etc. – but I had never done it myself. Too scared I might ruin a book with my messy handwriting or inability to rule a straight line. And then I did – I annotated my first book (non-fiction) and I really enjoyed doing it. I feel like I got so much more out of the book because of how deeply I was reading it. and the best bit is I can flick back through at any time and reread the bits I need whenever I want. Now I have a pile of books I want to annotate, all non-fiction, because I’m still not ready to do that to a novel but maybe one day.
