Book Blogger Hop: Reading slumps

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Beginning on a Friday and ending on the following Thursday, each hop has a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The purpose of the hop is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

This week’s prompt is: How do you deal with reading slumps or moments when you can’t get into a book?

Touch wood – I haven’t had a reading slump for quite a while and even when I feel like I can’t physically pick up a book or scroll through an e-book, I always have an audiobook going in the car. So I am never actually not ‘reading’ something. I listen to audiobooks to and from work, five days a week and that gets me through until I am able to return to reading with my eyes, not just my ears.

Sometimes I find I just can’t get into a book, no matter the format, and if I can’t push through, I put it down. Occasionally I’ll come back to it, but most often that book will languish on my shelf, digital or actual, until I get rid of it. I’m not afraid to DNF if a book is not working for me. Life is too short to read ‘crappy’ books.
