Let’s Talk Bookish: Go-To Book Recommendations

Let’s talk Bookish is a weekly meme hosted by Aria @ Book Nook Bits where each Friday bloggers write blogposts discussing the topic of the week, sharing their opinions and spreading the bookish love by visiting each other’s posts.

This week’s topic is: Go-To Book Recommendations

Prompts: Do people often ask you for book recommendations? Do you have go-to responses? Do the books you recommend depend on the person asking, or are your answers always the same? What’s a book you would recommend to anyone?

Discussion:

No surprises, but books and reading often come up in the every day conversations I have with people at work, with family and with friends, usually about the book I am carrying around in my hand or tote bag. But occasionally I am asked to recommend a book….which is where I struggle. I have read so many amazing books that I truly loved, not wanting to put them down…but then I put them down and promptly forget about them. I find it so hard to recall the details of a book after I have read it, even if, just an hour earlier, I was deeply enthralled in that same book. Anyone else?

To combat this, I do have some go-to recommendations that I will happily share with anyone, usually written by favourite authors or in my favourite genre.

Then there are certain people that I am closer to, who’s reading habits I understand better than others’, for instance my sisters, who will receive a photo of a book cover the minute I finish it, if I think it’s something they would enjoy reading.

Currently I am recommending The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V E Schwab and The Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young to anyone and everyone.
