Weekly Bookish Wrap Up: 19th January 2025

Happy Sunday bookish peeps!

It’s been an interesting week here with some very wild weather conditions – thunderstorms and strong winds, minor flooding, blackouts and internet/phone service outages – that literally, and figuratively, left me in the dark and cut off from the world for a couple of days.

A bit like camping, we spent our nights with candles lit, reading until into was too dark to see the pages before having an early night. It was quite pleasant really except that I couldn’t talk to my kids in the evening like I usually do.

Bookish things:

I did manage to get lots of reading done though, finishing three books, all of them four star reads.

  • Starling House by Alix E Harrow
  • The Moonflowers by Abigail Rose-Marie
  • Done and Dusted by Lyla Sage

That seems to be my go-to rating atm, with every book I’ve read so far this year being a four star read.

As soon as I finished Done and Dusted, I picked up the second book in the Rebel Blue Ranch series – Swift and Saddled – beginning it that same night. I’m only 75 pages in but I think I’m enjoying it even more than the first book. I do love a well-written cowboy.

I also began my first ARC for the year – Boy with Wings by Mark Mustian. With an unusual writing style, and a darkness I wasn’t expecting straight from the start, this novel already has me hooked.

Bookish Challenges:

2025 Goodreads Reading Challenge: 6/75 books

Audiobook Challenge: 4/50 audiobooks

Non Fiction Reader Challenge: 0/12 books

And that’s my bookish week. How was yours?
