Goodreads Monday: Hex and the City by Kate Johnson

Goodreads Monday is a really simple weekly meme, hosted by Budget Tales Book Blog, where you choose a book at random from your Goodreads TBR and explain why you want to read it. This meme is also an opportunity to share any progress you have made on your current books, Goodreads Reading Challenge or anything else Goodreads related.

This week’s pick is: Hex and the City by Kate Johnson

Things you should know about Poppy:

1. She’s a witch

2. She has magical hair like Rapunzel from Tangled

3. She lives with Iris, the head of her coven, in a beautiful, ramshackle house next to Highgate cemetery

4. She works at Hubble Bubble, a magic shop in Covent Garden. Though none of it is real magic as that would be highly irresponsible. Until…

…Poppy accidentally sells gorgeous celebrity magician Axl Storm, all six-foot-four of him, a cursed pendant.

When all hell breaks loose can the guy with fake magic and the girl with real magic fix the chaos they’ve caused? Or will sparks fly both in and out of the cauldron?

Why do I want to read it?:

I picked up Hex Appeal by Kate Johnson on a whim because I liked the cover. I’ve been reading it on audio and enjoying it so much that I went to see what else this author has written and lo and behold it’s part of a series. So now I have to read them all.

Hex and the City is the second book in the series and also has a lovely cover.

This week’s reading progress:

Another productive reading week for me, with three books read. I’m ahead on all of my reading challenges for the year so far, and keeping my fingers crossed that I can keep up this pace.

I’m still reading book 2 in the Rebel Blue Ranch series – Swift and Saddled by Lyla Sage, having gotten momentarily side-tracked by my ARC. Now that I’ve finished reading that, I am hoping to get back to Ada and Weston’s story.

  1. I enjoyed this book and then found out it was part of a series. I need to read the rest, but haven’t had time. I am currently panic reading due to too many Netgalley books coming up!! 3 books in a week is excellent and is the sort of number that I would love to make 🤣

    Have a great week!
