Weekly Bookish Wrap Up: 27th April 2025

Happy Sunday bookish peeps!

One more sleep until I have to head back to work after six weeks at home, recovering from surgery. To say I’m anxious is an understatement. I have become so accustomed to a new routine of blogging, reading and furbaby cuddles, I feel like I’m going to struggle with leaving the house at set times and getting back into the habit of packing a lunch. I haven’t even driven a car in over six weeks, so that ought to be interesting.

Then there’s the socialising. I am much more comfortable sitting behind my desk, chatting away to like-minded readers about all the things I love, than working with others in the real world. Don’t get me wrong, I have missed the babies and my nursery team but it’s going to take me a little bit to settle back in.

My hubby is still hoping to win the lotto so that I can leave work to be a full-time blogger and reader. Wish him luck!

Bookish things:

This week I’ve read 2 books and started 2 others. I read First Time Caller by B K Borison, swooning at the ending and vowing to read the whole Heartstrings series as it is published. I also finally finished Broken Country by Clare Leslie Hall on audio while doing a thorough kitchen clean. This was a new experience for me, being that I normally don’t listen to audiobooks anywhere else but in the car. Expecting to get distracted while I listened, I was surprised that I made it to the end of the book without missing any of the story. Now I wonder if I could do this more often. Maybe I could sort my wardrobe while listening next….lol.

I’ve started listening to The House of my Mother by Shari Franke on Spotify. I recently watched the docuseries about Ruby Franke on Disney + and was interested to read her daughter’s perspective. I’ve kept the original speed so that I can work on my computer and listen at the same time…another little experiment.

I’ve also started reading The Suite Life by Portia MacIntosh, a backlist book from my Kindle.
