Weekly Bookish Wrap Up: 25th May 2025

Happy Sunday bookish peeps!

My Weekly Bookish Wrap Up is linked with the Sunday Salon and the Sunday Post.

The Sunday Salon is a meme hosted by Readerbuzz and is a place to link up and share what you have been doing during the week. It’s also a great opportunity to visit other blogs and join in the conversations going on there. While the Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and is a chance to share news. It’s a post to recap the past week on your blog and share news about what is coming up on your blog for the week ahead.

Non-bookish things:

It happened!…I had a big technology update. Not just for me but for my husband as well…we had a little shopping spree, replacing our old broken TV with a newer and bigger one, and updating his laptop for gaming and my tablet for everything, essentially. I want to be able to be a bit more portable with my blogging. Instead of having to sit at my desktop all day Sunday, I can do a little bit every day from the comfort of my lounge or wherever. I also want to make my tablet the epicentre of all of my lists and to-dos. One place where I have everything – instead of bits and pieces of stuff everywhere, in all different formats. This is my plan…and I expect I’ll get there but it may take a while to consolidate everything. Also I like to customise everything and make it pretty…so that takes a long time but I hope to be able to share my progress soon.

Speaking of pretty, I treated myself to a purchase of a Pop Keys Keyboard in purple … I was just so excited by it’s purpleness that I had to have it. A bit frivolous and girly but I’m usually so ‘matchy matchy’ about everything coming into my house, it felt good to buy something because it was my favourite colour.

The rain has continued to rain…and many areas have been cut off by floodwater. Thankfully this time we have been unaffected, having moved to a different area since the last big floods in which we were stranded for 10 days. There has been a little bit of water laying around but it’s been nothing compared to other areas that have been completely devastated by flooding.

It was my son’s 26th birthday, however we were prevented by the rain from getting together to celebrate. We are hoping that once things dry up a little and it’s safe to drive at night, that he will be able to come round for a home-cooked meal and games night with his sister and her partner too.

While both of my children live only 5 minutes from each other, they live 50 minutes away from us and I don’t want either of them driving that far at night in the rain. So we wait until it clears up and the roads are no longer so dangerous.

Bookish things:

This week I finally finished Wild Love by Elsie Silver. It has been on my bedside table for weeks, being picked up only every now and then, until this week when I found time to sit and just sink into it, finishing it in a night. I surprised myself with how much I enjoyed it, once I got right into it. I mean, it’s not going to win any awards for writing but it did have the right amount of romance and spice to make me excited to read the rest of the series.

I also listened to Family Family by Laurie Frankel, whose previous book, This Is How It Always Is, is one of my all-time favourites. That being so, I have never read any of her other books until now. I thoroughly enjoyed the twists and turns of this book; the way the author creates her characters and how satisfying the ending was.

Fresh from last week’s audiobook choice, I am listening to another of Laurie Frankel’s novels One Two Three. Again the characters are magnificent, drawing me into what might not be the author’s best novel but is captivating never the less.

I have started reading the ARC of Everything’s Coming Up Rosie by Courtney Walsh and hope to have it finished, if not reviewed, by the end of the week.
