I found this little tag on Dini’s blog dinipandareads who found it on Ashley’s blog Books are 42. Originally this tag was created by Jamie @ A Little Slice of Jamie who seems to have put her blog on private so I can’t link back to her.
I thought this looked like an interesting tag and relatively easy to answer, so let’s see….
Where do you typically write your blogposts?
All of my blogposts are written at my desk on my desktop computer…somehow it feels more productive and organised that way. This is also where I do all of my interacting with other bloggers and reading of posts because I prefer the bigger screen and the clickity clack of my fingernails on the keyboard.
How long does it generally take you to write a book review?
It used to take me hours and that’s why you will hardly ever see me write one nowadays. I just felt like the number of people who read review posts was dwindling and so the effort wasn’t really worth it. I prefer to talk about books in smaller bites throughout my weekly memes and posts.
When did you start your book blog?
I started ‘blogging’ at the beginning of 2019 with no real idea what I wanted to blog about, but by mid 2019, I realised I wanted to share my passion for books and Bookish Me became a thing. Anything I had written previous to this has since been deleted as the nonsense that it was.
I’ve dipped in and out of book blogging over the last five years as I’ve fallen into and out of reading/life slumps, so I still feel fairly un-established in the bookish community.
What is the worst thing about having a book blog in your opinion?
Finding the time (and often the motivation) to keep coming back to it regularly, to interact with others, to draft and publish blog posts, to find new and interesting things to write about. I put a lot of pressure on myself and if I’m not blogging regularly it’s very easy for me to fall off the blogging wagon and disappear…which only means having to come back and rebuild what I’ve lost. I’m still a blogging work-in-progress.
What is the best thing about having a book blog in your opinion?
The bookish community, the book recs and the bookish freebies.
What blog post have you had the most fun writing so far?
I don’t think that there is one particular post that I have enjoyed writing the most but I do enjoy a good monthly wrap up. I like to be able to share my reading progress and to look back on the books I’ve read.
I’m looking forward to being able to include some ‘stats’ now that I am creating my own reading tracker spreadsheet and following my nerdy, bookish heart.
What is your favourite type of blogpost to write?
I love to write (and read) all kinds of wrap up posts because they tend to have a bit more of a personal approach and I feel like they are a wonderful opportunity to really connect to the blogger as a person not just a reader.
When do you typically write?
On Sunday afternoons. I generally use Sundays as a reset day for the whole week, cleaning the house, sorting the budget, checking emails etc. Then when that’s all sorted I sit down to blog – scheduling posts and reading the posts of others.
Do you ever review every book you read?
I used to but it became too time consuming and I had to release that pressure on myself. I do still review my ARCs but only in a short way and only on NetGalley to keep my feedback ratio up.
How do you write your book reviews? With a cup of coffee or tea? With Netflix? Cuddled with your furbaby?
All of my blogging is done with a coffee and a lit candle beside me. It doesn’t matter what time of day or night it is…that’s how I get in the zone for writing.
When do you write your book reviews? Right after finishing the book? Two weeks after finishing the book?
I used to do them straight away but now I tend to spend this time looking for my next read.
Maybe one day I might find a less time consuming, pressure filled way to review books and then I’ll be able to come back to it but for now it’s just not happening.
How often do you post?
Not nearly enough…about 4 out of 7 days a week and mostly these are memes. I would definitely like to post more often and with a greater variety of posts but I’m trying to be gentle on myself as a work out the best rhythm for my days that might allow me to do more of the things I love, including this blog.
If you enjoyed this tag and would like to have a go, consider yourself tagged but don’t forget to link back to this post. I’d love to read your answers.
Great post—I enjoyed reading your answers! 🙂 Posting 4 out of 7 days a week is awesome! I post roughly the same amount and that’s mostly thanks to weekly memes and I love doing them so much. I fully relate to finding time to blog being the hardest part of having a blog. There just never seems to be enough time to read, write, engage, and some days/weeks are much easier than others to make it happen. Also relate with the self-pressure but I think that tends to make everything worse, so I try to tell myself to just “let it go” and that things will work out as I want them to eventually, lol.
