The Bookish Questions Book Tag

It’s Tag Thursday and today’s tag is one I found on Dinipandareads. Dini was unable to find the creator of this tag but if you happen to know who it is, please comment below so that I can give them the credit.

The Bookish Questions:

Genre you stay away from?

Once upon a time I used to love horror stories, now I will not touch them. I won’t watch horror movies either. Anything that might give me horribly vivid nightmares is a definite PASS.

Worst habit as a reader?

Starting a series and then never going back to it. I do this with TV series too. For instance I’ve seen every season of Game of Thrones except the last, likewise the Harry Potter movies.

Do you read the synopsis?

Usually. There are some authors whose work I will read no matter what and in that case it doesn’t matter what it is about.

Do you read used books?

Short answer, no. I haven’t in a long time since I’ve been able to afford to buy books new. I prefer the stiff spine, the crisp pages and that new book smell to the musty, secondhand vibes of used books.

Favourite book from last year?

I can’t possibly choose just one, although last year was quite a drab reading year when I look back. I particularly loved Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt, Lily and the Octopus by Steven Rowley and Happy Place by Emily Henry.

Favourite classic?

If I had to choose, I’d choose Little Women by Louisa May Alcott because of how much I loved it growing up. Now I probably wouldn’t read it …or any other classic for that matter.

Book you always recommend?

It depends who I’m recommending to, being that my mother-in-law has different tastes to my sisters who have different tastes to each other and to any of my friends.

Current read?

I usually have 3 or 4 books on the go at a time but at the moment I’m focusing on reading Cleopatra and Frankenstein by Coco Mellors as I work my way through my physical TBR on my desk.

Book you’re looking forward to reading?

How to choose just one? If they’re in my TBR – either physical or digital – then I’m looking forward to reading them. I regularly cull my TBRs so that they don’t get out of hand, so if it makes it through the culling process then I want to read them eventually.

Books you’re ashamed of not having read yet?

I wouldn’t say ashamed. There are a couple of books on my physical TBR that have been overlooked time and time again in preference for newer, shinier books but I’m not ashamed that I haven’t read them yet. I will eventually get to them – when the mood strikes.

Now it’s your turn. If you decide to have a go, please link back to this post so that I can read your answers.

  1. Great post! I enjoyed reading your answers 🙂 Hard same for me and horror anything! I just can’t do it, lol. I’m excited to see Remarkably Bright Creatures and Lily and the Octopus on your faves list because those two are high up on my TBR and I can’t wait to read them. I’ve heard they’re great for when you’re looking for an emotional “make me cry” book, lol.
