Weekly Bookish Wrap Up: 12th January 2025

Happy Sunday bookish peeps!

A super quick wrap up tonight while I sit on the couch next to my hubby and all the furbabies.

Over the past month we have been slowly integrating our outdoor dog into the house so that he is more comfortable as he grows older. At almost ten years old, and having lost his outdoor companion, I wanted him to be able to spend the rest of his life cosy on the couch in the company of our sausage dogs. I was worried how he would do, being quite set in his ways but he is absolutely flourishing. We’ve gradually allowed him to meet our snags through the puppy gate, then in person on a lead and now he is curled up on the ottoman at my feet in the lounge room with the other furbabies.

Bookish things:

It’s been a good week of reading. I finished both my audiobook – Adam and Evie’s Matchmaking Tour by Nora Nguyen and my paperback – Love Redesigned by Lauren Asher, immediately replacing them with new books – Starling House by Alix E Harrow and Done and Dusted by Lyla Sage.

I haven’t been able to put Starling House out of my mind since I began listening to it and can’t wait to get back to it tomorrow. Done and Dusted is my bedtime read and so I’m taking my time with it. I am quite enamoured with Luke Brooks though and wish I lived on a ranch in a small country town.

Bookish Challenges:

2025 Goodreads Reading Challenge: 3/75 books

Audiobook Challenge: 2/50 audiobooks

Non Fiction Reader Challenge: 0/12 books

And that’s my bookish week. How was yours?

  1. Sounds like your reading year is off to a great start! What’d you think of Adam & Evie? I added that to my TBR close to the end of 2024 but haven’t seen many readers talk about it. I read Starling House last year and it ended up being one of my faves of 2024. I hope you continue to love it! Happy reading and have a great week ahead 😊

    1. Thanks Dini! You too!

I listened to Adam and Evie on audiobook and really enjoyed it, part of that was the setting, having never read a romance set in Vietnam before. The cultural and familial aspects to the story added another element to the usual romance.

I predict Starling House will be my first 5 star read of the year. I am loving it!
