Anti-TBR Book Tag

Happy Tag Thursday!

Today I’m going to do the Anti-TBR Book Tag as seen on Books are 42.

The questions:

  • A popular book EVERYONE loves that you have no interest in reading
  • A classic book (or author) you don’t have an interest in reading
  • An author whose books you have no interest in reading
  • A problematic author whose books you have no interest in reading
  • An author you have read a couple of books from and have decided their books are not for you
  • A genre you have no interest in OR a genre you tried to get into but couldn’t
  • A book you have bought but will never read (this can be a book you have unhauled/returned to the library unread)
  • A series you have no interest in reading OR a series you started and have DNF’d
  • A new release you have no interest in reading
  • Are able to give a definite answer to any of these?

A popular book EVERYONE loves that you have no interest in reading:

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins – haven’t read it and don’t plan on ever picking it up. I did watch the first movie with my sister who loves both the books and the movies in this series, but I just couldn’t go any further than that. Sorry EVERYONE, it’s not for me.

A classic book (or author) you don’t have an interest in reading:

There are too many to list. I’m really not that interested in reading the classics. I have attempted many over the years after feeling that I was not a real reader if I didn’t, but now I just read what I like.

An author whose books you have no interest in reading:

Another very popular author who is just not for me is TJ Klune. The covers of his books always appeal but I’ve never felt an urge to add one to my TBR. I don’t think I’m the target audience.

A problematic author whose books you have no interest in reading:

I’ll be honest and say I’d really rather leave this question alone. That said, I do my best to avoid authors that are racist, sexist, homophobic, religious zealots, bullies, plagiarists and questionable in a host of ways.

An author you have read a couple of books from and have decided their books are not for you:

Two quickly spring to mind – both quite popular but definitely not for me, even though I tried. Firstly, Kristen Hannah whose books I find to be poorly written, repetitive drivel and Tessa Bailey whose books are all porn no substance.

A genre you have no interest in OR a genre you tried to get into but couldn’t:

Again there’s two – I have no interest in reading horror or sci-fi novels.

A book you have bought but will never read (this can be a book you have unhauled/returned to the library unread):

If I’ve purchased a book it’s rare that I wouldn’t read it….eventually. I do try and keep my physical TBR small so that books don’t get forgotten and left behind.

A series you have no interest in reading OR a series you started and have DNF’d:

Even though the Empyrean Series is wildly popular, I have zero interest in reading it. I just can’t “enter the brutal and elite world of a war college for dragon riders”…plus the books are huge!

A new release you have no interest in reading:

In the same vein as the first question, I have no interest in reading Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins, even with the renewed hype surrounding the whole series.

Are you able to give a definite answer to any of these?:

Anything is possible….who knows I might be persuaded at some stage to change my mind but it’s fairly unlikely.

Now it’s your turn.
