Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
This week’s TTT topic is: Animal Companions
Some of my favourite books are about the relationship between animals and humans, many sharing wisdom, love and…often loss. Many of the books on this list captured my heart when I read them, meaning I often think about them and recommend them to others. Others, I have included in this list for their quirkiness and sense of fun. In each of the books the animals bring out the best of their human companions.
- Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt
- Lily and the Octopus by Steven Rowley
- A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman
- The Travelling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa
- The Guest Cat by Takashi Hiraide
- Weyward by Emilia Hart
- The Wonderful Thing about Phoenix Rose by Josephine Moon
- Say You’ll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez
- How to Age Disgracefully by Clare Pooley
- Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez

Wow, in all this time that I’ve had Ove on my TBR, I’m embarrassed to admit that I never noticed the cat 🫣 The first three books are high up on my TBR and I’m looking forward to reading them, I think, I just know that they will make me ridiculously emotional, lol. Especially Lily and the Octopus!

I balled my eyes out reading Lily and the Octopus but I also laughed. Probably wasn’t helped by the fact that I have two dachshunds who are my everything (besides my kids).

Great selection! I spotted a couple I hadn’t mentioned in my TTT that I enjoyed as well: The Guest Cast and Part Of Your World. I’m also looking forward to read How To Age Disgracefully and Say You’ll Remember Me some time soon.
