20 Books of Summer: Reading Plans

Whilst it’s winter here in Australia, I am excited to participate in the 20 Books of Summer Challenge again this year. No longer hosted by Cathy @ 746 books, it has been taken on by Annabel @ AnnaBookBel and Emma @ Words and Peace, who have given it a little shake up with gorgeous new logos and a fun bingo game.

The #20BooksofSummer2025 runs from 1st June to 31st August and the ‘rules’ remain the same:

  • The first rule of 20 Books is that there are no real rules, other than signing up for 10, 15 or 20 books and trying to read from your TBR.
  • Pick your list in advance, nominate a bookcase to read from, or pick at whim from your TBR.
  • If you do pick a list, you can change it at any time – swap books in/out.
  • Don’t get panicked at not reaching your target. Instead enjoy a summer of great reading and maybe make a bit of space on your shelves!

Last year I chose to read only ten books for the challenge, keeping things realistic for my first time participating in the challenge. This year, however, I’ve decided to go the whole hog – 20 books from my TBR but to keep this year’s list realistic, I have decided to pre-decide 10 of my books and leave the other 10 open to cater for mood reading. I’m also going to use this challenge as a way to get some of my ARCs read and reviewed.

This year’s list:

  1. Finlay Donovan is Killing It by Elle Cosimano
  2. The Ick by Holly McCulloch
  3. Slow Burn Summer by Josie Silver (ARC)
  4. What if I Never Get Over You by Paige Toon
  5. He Would Never by Holly Wainwright
  6. No One was Supposed to Die at this Wedding by Catherine Mack
  7. Clementine Crane Prefers Not To by Kristin Bair (ARC)
  8. The Woman Who Met Herself by Laura Pearson (ARC)
  9. Totally Folked by Penny Reid
  10. Better than the Movies by Lynn Painter

The remaining 10 books will be chosen from my TBR as we go.

Are you planning on participating this Sumer/Winter? How are you choosing your reading list? And how many books are you choosing?
