The Goodreads Book Tag

Happy Tag Thursday!

Today I’m going to do the Goodreads Book Tag as seen on Kate’s blog Once Upon An Ordinary. Like Kate, I love Goodreads for keeping track of my reading and building my TBR, so I thought this tag would be perfect for me.

Here are the prompts if you’d like to give this tag a go. If you do decide to, please link back to this post so that I can visit yours. I’d love to get to know you better through your answers.

The prompts:

  • What was the last book you marked as ‘read’?
  • What are you currently reading?
  • What was the last book you marked as ‘to read’?
  • Do you use the star system?
  • Are you doing the 2025 Reading Challenge?
  • Do you have a wish list?
  • Who are your favourite authors?
  • Have you joined any groups?
  • How many Goodreads shelves do you have?

What was the last book you marked as ‘read’?

I finished reading Totally Folked by Penny Reid – Book #1 Good Folk: Modern Folktales series – last week, returning to Green valley, Tennessee, the setting of the Winston Brothers series by the same author. The Winston Brothers was the first romance series that I loved, giving each book 5 stars, so my excitement level is pretty high for this new-to-me series.

What are you currently reading?

I’m currently reading What If I Never get Over You by Paige Toon as well as The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy by Megan Bannen. Both new-to-me authors that I have wanted to try for an age.

What was the last book you marked as ‘to read’?

I recently added Anywhere With You by Ellie Palmer to my to-be-read shelf, even though I am yet to read Four Weekends and a Funeral by the same author. It felt like it might be a cosy romance and I do love a cosy romance, so it was an easy addition to my shelf.

Do you use the star system?

I absolutely do. I find it so helpful to read other’s ratings and also to have a way to remember, in general terms, how I felt about a book. I have a tendency to read a book, rate it then completely forget what it was about and how it made me feel, so the rating system really helps.

Are you doing the 2025 Reading Challenge?

I am and I’m almost finished it already. I’ve read 74/75 books so far this year and while I won’t change my official goal, I have upgraded it to 100 books since there are still 5 more months of the year.

Do you have a wish list?

My to-be-read shelf acts as a kinda wish list. If it’s on the list, I want to read it and I don’t usually mind in which format or how I get my hands on it. I never have a plan about what I will purchase next. I just go by mood, sometimes consulting the list but often times adding to it.

Who are your favourite authors?

My favourite authors change depending on what genre I am all about at the time. This year, I have tended to read a lot of romance, adding Lyla Sage and B K Borison to my ever growing list of auto-buy authors.

Have you joined any groups?

Back when I first started using Goodreads I joined a couple of groups. I’ve since realised that I barely have time to do what I’m doing and I prefer other forms of interacting with the bookish community.

How many Goodreads shelves do you have?

Besides the standard ones that Goodreads gives you, I have 10 shelves – one for each year that I’ve been using Goodreads, one for ARCs and two challenge shelves – non-fiction and audiobook. I like to keep my Goodreads fairly simple and straightforward.

Now it’s your turn.
