Top Ten Tuesday: Books with a High Page Count

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This week’s TTT topic is: Books with a High Page Count

Let me start by saying that, lately I tend to read books that are between 350 -450 pages and anything above that would have to come with some pretty good references for me to pick it up. I just don’t have the stick-with-it-ness to read those door stopper style books, knowing that any book getting close to the 500 page has a tendency to drag on and may potentially send me into a reading slump. In previous years, however, I have read some pretty fantastic books at the upper end of my own page scale (and a little beyond) that I would love to be able to share with you.

Here’s my top ten:

  • It’s Not Me, It’s You by Mhairi McFarlane (544 pages)
  • Apples Never Fall by Liane Moriarty (516 pages)
  • Lola in the Mirror by Trent Dalton (512 pages)
  • Here One Moment by Liane Moriarty (511 pages)
  • Boy Swallows Universe by Trent Dalton (474 pages)
  • City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert (470 pages)
  • Mad Honey by Jodi Picoult, Jennifer Finney Boylan (464 pages)
  • Variation by Rebecca Yarros (459 pages)
  • The Confession by Jessie Burton (455 pages)
  • We All Live Here by Jojo Moyes (450 pages)

Each of these books was 4 or 5 stars at the time of reading. At least two have since become TV series that I am yet to watch and hopefully there will be others adapted for the small screen. I know I’d love to see Lola in the Mirror on the small screen even if it would break my heart …again. Maybe one day.
