A little lookity into other areas of my life… besides books.
The weather has started to really cool down here in Australia, as we move closer to Winter. I have begun my annual hibernation, purchasing a weighted blanket which I move from place to place around our home, so I can snuggle down anywhere. I’ve dragged out the jumpers and sloppy joes, and will very soon need to purchase some warmer house pants. Hubby has already switched to trackie pants…and our Pippa puppy is completely up for that. Pippa was a present for my 50th birthday but she quickly decided my hubby was her person and is never far from his side…like the princess she is.

Our other furbabies are definitely my babies and absolutely love that I’ve got a weighted blanket now. You’ll often find at least one under the blanket with me and one on top.
I’ve spent the last week curled under said blanket with, first a head cold, then a chest cold as my symptoms migrated to my chest. I am beyond tired of coughing … and just beyond tired in general. I’m struggling with being at home from work but not being able to do anything except rest. I am an absolutely homebody but I am also always busy – so forced rest is driving me crazy.
Listening:
I haven’t really been listening to anything. On my first forced day at home, I finished my audiobook – Our Perfect Storm – and downloaded another before promptly falling asleep. I downloaded a podcast about neurodivergence – This Voice is Mine – but I’m yet to start listening to it.
Watching:
I have watched a whole tonne of Netflix – or at least had it on in the background of my life while I’ve been home.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching Kylie Minogue docuseries, having been a massive fan of hers when I was younger. It bought back my love of her music and now I notice I’m roaming around the house, singing her songs. I also watched Harry Styles; One Night in Manchester, which was surprisingly good.
I watched a few true crime time documentaries which seem to be a go-to when I don’t have a series I want to watch and I watched a couple of movies. I absolutely cried my eyes out watching Remarkably Bright Creatures and I’m tempted to reread the book … anyone else?
Creating:
Having finished my first granny square blanket…finally…I decided I might try a granny hexagon, keeping it pretty simple by doing one large hexagon instead of 30 or 40 separate blocks. Again I went with a pretty variegated yarn, the changes of colour keep me from losing interest and never finishing. I’m amazed at how quickly its coming together so far, after only a week of working on it. I am really enjoying working this pattern and think it could become a favourite for making a quick project.
